19 April 2011 - New building standards section - Sustainability

A new section has been added to the scottish building standards (regulations) - Sustainability
The new section can be downloaded by clicking here. It appears that this new section is not mandatory, but is a incentive for people / business / local authorities to go byond the minimum standards.

HMRC have raised VAT from 17.5 to 20% today, however highland architecture customers do not have to worry, as there is no VAT to pay on our professional fees.

1 January 2011 - 1 Year in Business

Highland Architecture has completed a succesful first year in business and look forward to building on this success, and assisting even more customers in 2011

19 October 2010 - Architectural conservation

Attended an architectural conservation class at Inverness college. Very interesting! Although not expert in this subject , I am becoming increasingly experienced in this field and what the plannig department and conservation officer are looking for. A rare skill indeed!

1 October 2010 New Building Standards in force.

New regulations come into force today, the biggest change being the energy usage of new buildings and increased amount fo insulation. There are big changes also in noise reducation between houses and flats. Testing for airtightness for new build houses will also be introduced in 2011.

24 August 2010 - Scotlands Housing expo

Visited the expo for the second time! It was nice to see a bit more of the hard landscaping finished.

An interesting mixo f housing and external materials, I was a bit dissapointed by the lack of exciting or eco internal finishes.

16 August 2010 - Highland Architecture have moved !

Highland Architecture are now based in the Ross-shire Business Centre in Dingwall. Highland Architecture are now sharing an office with local civil engineering complany Gunn Macphee
